Description

A quick and easy recipe for crispy Brussels sprouts cooked in an air fryer and finished with a sweet and tangy balsamic glaze, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (about 450g) fresh Brussels sprouts
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt (sea salt or kosher salt)
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ cup (60ml) balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Rinse the Brussels sprouts and trim off the stem ends. Cut each sprout in half lengthwise. Toss any loose outer leaves in as well.
  2. Place the halved sprouts in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder. Toss to coat evenly.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) if needed. Arrange sprouts in a single layer in the basket without overcrowding.
  4. Cook for 7 minutes, then shake the basket or stir with tongs to flip the sprouts. Cook for another 7-8 minutes until edges are deep golden brown and crispy.
  5. While sprouts cook, combine balsamic vinegar and brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until sugar dissolves and mixture reduces by half to a syrupy consistency (about 4-5 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. Transfer cooked Brussels sprouts to a serving bowl. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and toss gently to coat. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure crispiness. Shake the basket halfway through cooking for even browning. Use good quality balsamic vinegar for best flavor. The glaze can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a week. Leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer or skillet to restore crispiness; avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
