Air Fryer Doughnut Bites: Kids Will Actually Want to Help Make

  • Author: SALY
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings 1x

Description

These easy, kid-friendly air fryer doughnut bites are a fun baking project that requires no hot stoves or deep frying. Made with simple pantry staples and coated in cinnamon sugar, they cook in minutes for a fresh, homemade treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (65g) granulated sugar (for dough)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk the melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide into 20-24 small, bite-sized pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  6. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick spray or line with perforated parchment paper.
  7. Place doughnut balls in the basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  8. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown.
  9. While warm, brush the doughnut bites lightly with melted butter.
  10. Toss the buttered doughnuts in the mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon until fully coated.
  11. Serve warm.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. Flip the doughnuts halfway through cooking. Coat the doughnuts while they are still warm so the sugar adheres properly. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Do not refrigerate.
