BBQ Ground Beef Sliders: Best Smoky Cheddar for Labor Day

  • Author: SALY
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

Juicy ground beef patties seasoned with smoked paprika, topped with tangy-sweet BBQ sauce and melted smoked cheddar, all wrapped in buttery, toasted Hawaiian rolls. These sliders are perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) 80/20 ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 12 slices smoked cheddar cheese (about 6 ounces / 170g)
  • 4 tablespoons (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 12 slices pickle chips

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently and form into 12 small patties (about 2 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick).
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 13×9-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Place Hawaiian rolls on the baking sheet. If in a loaf, slice horizontally in half but keep connected.
  6. Place one beef patty on each roll half. Top each patty with a slice of smoked cheddar.
  7. Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
  8. Drizzle the BBQ sauce generously over the cheese and rolls.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and rolls are golden brown. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
  10. Remove from oven, let cool for 2-3 minutes, slice between rolls, and serve immediately with pickle chips.

Notes

Do not overcook the beef as it will cook further in the oven. Use real smoked cheddar sliced from a block for best melting results. You can assemble these the night before and refrigerate; add 5 minutes to baking time if baking from cold. For a fresher taste, drizzle extra BBQ sauce after baking.
