Description
A cozy, autumnal cocktail that blends smooth Canadian whiskey or bourbon with real maple syrup and fresh lemon juice for a perfect holiday party drink.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ounces Bourbon or Canadian Whiskey
- 0.75 ounces Real Maple Syrup (Grade A Amber or Dark)
- 0.75 ounces Fresh Lemon Juice
- Ice (large cubes preferred)
- 0.5 Egg White (optional, for foam)
- Lemon Twist (for garnish)
- Bitters (optional, Angostura, maple, or orange)
Instructions
- Cut a strip of lemon peel about an inch wide and two inches long.
- Squeeze the peel over the glass to release oils, then rub it around the rim for garnish.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the whiskey, fresh lemon juice, and real maple syrup.
- If using egg white, add half an egg white to the shaker.
- Perform a ‘dry shake’ (shake without ice) for 15 seconds if using egg white to emulsify and create foam.
- Fill the shaker with ice.
- Shake hard for 10-15 seconds until the mixture is very cold.
- Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with the lemon twist and dash of bitters if desired.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
Use real maple syrup, not pancake syrup. For best foam, perform a dry shake before adding ice. If making ahead, mix whiskey, lemon, and maple syrup in the fridge for up to 3 days; add egg white and ice only when serving.
