Canadian Thanksgiving Maple Whiskey Sour

  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A cozy, autumnal cocktail that blends smooth Canadian whiskey or bourbon with real maple syrup and fresh lemon juice for a perfect holiday party drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces Bourbon or Canadian Whiskey
  • 0.75 ounces Real Maple Syrup (Grade A Amber or Dark)
  • 0.75 ounces Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Ice (large cubes preferred)
  • 0.5 Egg White (optional, for foam)
  • Lemon Twist (for garnish)
  • Bitters (optional, Angostura, maple, or orange)

Instructions

  1. Cut a strip of lemon peel about an inch wide and two inches long.
  2. Squeeze the peel over the glass to release oils, then rub it around the rim for garnish.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine the whiskey, fresh lemon juice, and real maple syrup.
  4. If using egg white, add half an egg white to the shaker.
  5. Perform a ‘dry shake’ (shake without ice) for 15 seconds if using egg white to emulsify and create foam.
  6. Fill the shaker with ice.
  7. Shake hard for 10-15 seconds until the mixture is very cold.
  8. Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  9. Garnish with the lemon twist and dash of bitters if desired.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use real maple syrup, not pancake syrup. For best foam, perform a dry shake before adding ice. If making ahead, mix whiskey, lemon, and maple syrup in the fridge for up to 3 days; add egg white and ice only when serving.
