Fudgy Sea Salt Caramel Brownies: Easy Best Dessert

  • Author: SALY
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings 1x

Description

Rich, intensely chocolatey brownies with pockets of gooey caramel and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. This one-bowl recipe is easy to make, yields a fudgy texture, and is perfect for impressing guests or satisfying a sweet craving.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup (95g) all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 package (11-12 oz) caramel candies
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Flaky sea salt (like Maldon)
  • Dark chocolate chunks (optional, recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides, and grease lightly.
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between intervals, until liquid. Let cool for a minute.
  3. Whisk the granulated sugar into the melted butter vigorously for 1-2 minutes until glossy. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Sift cocoa powder, flour, and salt into the wet mixture. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Microwave caramel candies and heavy cream in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and pourable. Add more cream if too thick.
  6. Pour brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Drizzle melted caramel over the top in ribbons.
  7. Sprinkle dark chocolate chunks (if using) and flaky sea salt evenly over the caramel.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is set and crackly. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with moist crumbs.
  9. Cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before lifting out using the parchment overhang and cutting into squares.

Notes

For fudgy brownies, do not overmix the batter once flour is added. Ensure eggs are at room temperature. The brownies taste better the next day as flavors meld. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
