Description
These easy 3-ingredient slow cooker pulled pork sliders are the ultimate game day party favorite. Tender, smoky pork is piled onto sweet Hawaiian rolls with a quick, tangy vinegar slaw for a perfect balance of flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 lbs pork shoulder (Boston butt)
- 18–20 oz barbecue sauce (divided)
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (divided)
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 small head green cabbage, shredded
- 2 medium carrots, grated
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 18–24 Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tbsp poppy seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Trim large chunks of hard fat from the pork shoulder and pat dry. Mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, then rub this seasoning blend all over the pork.
- Place seasoned pork in a slow cooker. Pour 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar and half of the barbecue sauce over the meat. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 6 hours until fork-tender.
- Transfer pork to a large bowl, discarding large fat pieces. Shred meat using two forks. Stir in the remaining barbecue sauce and adjust seasoning with vinegar or hot sauce if desired.
- While pork cooks, make the slaw: Whisk together mayonnaise, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Toss with shredded cabbage and grated carrots. Let sit for 15 minutes to meld flavors.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Place bottom halves on a baking sheet.
- Pile shredded pork onto the bottom rolls, then top with a generous spoonful of tangy slaw. Replace top halves of rolls.
- Mix melted butter with poppy seeds (if using). Brush mixture generously over the tops of the sliders.
- Bake for 10 minutes until tops are golden brown. Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.
Notes
For best results, use pork shoulder as lean cuts will dry out. Shred the pork while it is still warm for easier handling. The slaw tastes better if made a few hours ahead. Do not freeze assembled sliders as the buns will become mushy; freeze the shredded pork separately instead.
