Halloween Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Bark

  • Author: SALY
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 10 servings 1x

Description

A quick, no-bake Halloween treat made with puffed rice cereal, semi-sweet chocolate, peanut butter, and festive sprinkles. Ready in just 5 minutes of active time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups plain puffed rice cereal (like Rice Krispies) or plain puffed popcorn kernels
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (standard brand like Jif or Skippy)
  • 1/4 cup Halloween sprinkles (orange and black)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup pretzel pieces
  • Optional: 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • Optional: Pinch of flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Line a 13×9 inch baking sheet with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. Combine chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, stir, then microwave for another 30 seconds. Stir again, continuing in 15-second bursts if necessary, until smooth and glossy. Do not overheat.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate over the puffed rice cereal in a large bowl. Gently fold with a spatula to coat every piece without crushing them.
  4. Spread the chocolate-covered cereal onto the prepared baking sheet into an even layer, about 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Microwave the peanut butter in a small bowl for 15-20 seconds to loosen it. Stir until smooth and drizzle-able.
  6. Place the peanut butter in a small zip-top bag and snip off one corner. Drizzle the peanut butter over the chocolate-covered cereal in a zigzag pattern.
  7. Immediately sprinkle Halloween sprinkles (and optional pretzels or sea salt) over the top while the chocolate and peanut butter are still wet.
  8. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes or freeze for 15 minutes until the chocolate is completely set.
  9. Lift the bark out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang and break into irregular pieces.

Notes

Do not overheat the chocolate as it can seize up. Ensure the bowl is completely dry before melting chocolate. Use standard peanut butter rather than natural peanut butter to avoid an oily texture. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months.
