  • Author: SALY
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 24-32 pinwheels (about 6 servings) 1x

Description

Quick, no-cook, kid-approved ham and cheese pinwheel roll-ups perfect for busy weeknights and lunchboxes. These easy snacks come together in under 15 minutes and are customizable with various fillings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large flour tortillas (10-inch / 25cm)
  • 8 slices ham (about 6 oz / 170g)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (100g)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (15ml)
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped (optional)
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it at room temperature for 30 minutes or microwaving for 15 seconds.
  2. Spread about 1 tablespoon of softened cream cheese evenly over each flour tortilla.
  3. Place two slices of ham over the cream cheese on each tortilla, leaving a small edge at the top.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the ham.
  5. Scatter the chopped green onions over the cheese and add a light sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper.
  6. Drizzle a thin line of Dijon mustard over the cheese layer or spread it thinly.
  7. Tightly roll up each tortilla starting from the bottom edge, pressing firmly to keep it snug and sealed.
  8. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice each roll into 1-inch thick pinwheels, aiming for 6-8 pinwheels per tortilla.
  9. Arrange pinwheels on a plate or in an airtight container for serving or storage.
  10. Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Notes

[‘Softening the cream cheese is essential for easy spreading and to prevent torn tortillas.’, ‘Roll tortillas tightly and press firmly to keep pinwheels intact when slicing.’, ‘Use a serrated knife for clean cuts without squishing the roll-ups.’, ‘Make ahead and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.’, ‘Customize by swapping ham for turkey, adding veggies like spinach or bell peppers, or using different cheeses.’, ‘Avoid freezing as cream cheese and shredded cheese can become grainy after thawing.’, ‘Serve cold or at room temperature; can be warmed gently in the microwave for 15-20 seconds if desired.’]
