Description
A cozy, creamy, and warmly spiced pumpkin spice latte made with simple ingredients you probably already have at home. Perfect for fall mornings and easy to customize to your taste.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (240ml) strong brewed coffee (espresso or dark roast preferred)
- ¼ cup (60g) pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
- 1 cup (240ml) milk (whole milk preferred, or any plant-based alternative like oat or almond milk)
- 2 tablespoons (25g) brown sugar (can substitute with honey or maple syrup)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (or homemade blend: ½ teaspoon cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon nutmeg, ⅛ teaspoon ground ginger, pinch of cloves)
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg, caramel sauce drizzle
Instructions
- Brew a strong cup of coffee (about 5 minutes). Set aside and keep hot.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together pumpkin puree, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and about 2 tablespoons of milk. Warm gently, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves and mixture is fragrant and smooth (3-4 minutes).
- Add the remaining milk and vanilla extract to the saucepan. Heat until steaming but not boiling, stirring frequently to prevent scorching (3-5 minutes). Froth the milk mixture using a milk frother or by pouring into a jar and shaking vigorously for 30 seconds.
- Pour brewed coffee into a mug. Slowly add the pumpkin milk mixture, holding back froth with a spoon if desired. Spoon froth on top.
- Garnish with optional whipped cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, or caramel sauce. Serve and enjoy.
Notes
Use fresh pumpkin pie spice or make your own blend for best flavor. Do not overheat milk to avoid flat taste or separation. Adjust sweetness to taste. For vegan version, use oat or almond milk and coconut whipped cream. The pumpkin spice milk mixture can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, but the full latte is best made fresh.
