Description
Easy homemade breakfast sliders made with simple ingredients like sausage, eggs, cheese, and slider buns. Perfect for busy mornings, kid-approved, and great for feeding a crowd.
Ingredients
- 12 slider buns (soft, buttery rolls like Hawaiian rolls)
- 1 pound (450g) breakfast sausage (bulk pork sausage with sage and pepper or turkey sausage)
- 8 large eggs
- 8 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons (30g) butter
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: diced bell pepper or green onions
- Optional: hot sauce or ketchup for serving
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the bulk sausage, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer to a bowl and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until light and frothy. Wipe out the skillet or use a clean one and melt a little butter or oil over medium-low heat. Pour in the eggs and cook gently, stirring occasionally, until just set but still moist and fluffy. Remove from heat.
- Slice the slider buns horizontally in half, keeping tops and bottoms intact in a large baking dish.
- Layer the bottom halves of the buns with cooked sausage, then scrambled eggs, and top each with a slice of cheddar cheese. Place the top halves of the buns over the cheese.
- Melt the butter and brush it over the top of the slider buns. Cover the baking dish loosely with foil and bake in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for 12-15 minutes, until the cheese is melty and sliders are warmed through.
- Remove from oven and let sliders rest for a couple of minutes before slicing between each bun. Serve immediately with favorite breakfast sides or sauces.
Notes
[‘Do not overcook the eggs to keep them soft and moist; they finish cooking in the oven.’, ‘Butter the buns generously for a golden, flavorful crust.’, ‘Use fresh cheese slices instead of pre-shredded for better melting.’, ‘Make ahead by assembling the night before and baking fresh in the morning.’, ‘Add diced bell peppers or green onions to eggs for extra flavor and color.’, ‘Leftovers reheat well in oven or microwave with a damp paper towel to retain moisture.’]
