Description
A simple and flavorful slow cooker recipe with just five ingredients that creates a sticky, sweet, garlicky glaze on tender chicken thighs. Perfect for busy nights and meal prep.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 large garlic cloves, minced (about 2 tablespoons)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and melted butter until smooth and well combined.
- Place the chicken thighs in the slow cooker in a single layer. If stacking, keep them as flat as possible for even cooking.
- Pour the honey garlic sauce evenly over the chicken, coating each piece.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours until chicken is tender and easily shredded with a fork. Alternatively, cook on HIGH for 1.5 to 2 hours.
- If the sauce is too thin after cooking, remove the chicken and set aside. Turn the slow cooker to HIGH and let the sauce reduce for 10-15 minutes or simmer on the stove until thickened.
- Serve the honey garlic chicken over steamed rice, noodles, or in wraps. Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
Use chicken thighs for juicier results; chicken breasts can dry out. Fresh garlic is essential for best flavor. Butter helps thicken the sauce. Optionally add red pepper flakes for heat or rice vinegar for tang. Leftovers reheat well on stovetop with a splash of water or broth.
