Ultra-Fudgy One-Bowl Brownies

  • Author: SALY
  • Total Time: 33-38 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

These ultra-fudgy one-bowl brownies are a simple, five-ingredient treat that delivers a dense, gooey, and chewy texture with a crackly top. Perfect for quick baking with minimal cleanup and pantry-friendly ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Pinch of salt (optional, skip if using salted butter)

Instructions

  1. Melt the unsalted butter in a mixing bowl, using the microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring in between until fully melted but warm.
  2. Add granulated sugar to the melted butter and whisk or stir vigorously until combined and slightly glossy.
  3. Crack in the two eggs and beat them in well until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Sift in the cocoa powder and all-purpose flour to avoid lumps. Add a pinch of salt if using.
  5. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients with a rubber spatula or spoon until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Pour the batter into a parchment-lined 8×8 inch baking pan and spread evenly to the edges.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 325°F (163°C) for 20-25 minutes. Start checking at 20 minutes with a toothpick; it should come out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.
  8. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares.

Notes

Use room temperature eggs for smoother texture. Avoid overmixing after adding dry ingredients to prevent cakey brownies. Start checking brownies at 20 minutes to avoid overbaking. Use parchment paper for easy cleanup and perfect squares. Optional additions include chopped nuts or chocolate chips. For dairy-free, substitute butter with coconut oil and eggs with flax eggs. For gluten-free, use a 1:1 gluten-free baking blend.
